Introducing
|
Hi
everybody. I am one of the older members of the club, if not the oldest,
being one of Helen's happy superannuitants. I have lived on the Kapiti
Coast for 40 years, and have been a member of the club for about two years. |
Description
of music |
I
am no Muso. I do not read music. I do not write music. I just love making
music, and the keyboard that I play, must have been invented with me in
mind. Just a good ear, a good sense of rythm, and a little bit of talent,
and you can make these things sound pretty good. The music I play is mainly
the older stuff, to suit my age-group.
|
Who/What
have been your main musical influences ? |
In
chronological order: The Big Bands, Louis Armstrong, Aker Bilk, Chris
Barber,Kenny Ball, Elvis, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Bee Gees,
Abba, and all the 60's, 70's. I am not all that into songs. I love to
hear people sing, but the words are of no importance. To me the voice
is another special, very expressive musical instrument. |
Your
greatest musical moment? |
When
I played in public for the first time, about two years ago, and people
told me afterwards that they enjoyed my music. |
Your
musical dream? |
No
major dreams or aspirations. Just to continue getting the odd gig, here
and there, to allow me to play to an audience. |
Your
best recent listen? |
Wayne
Mason, at the July club night. I thought his guitar and keyboard playing
were just great, and his voice just blended in so well with the instruments.
(but I still dont know the words to Nature). |
Your
thoughts about the Kapiti Live Music Club? |
I
think it is an excellent thing for the coast. There are so many talented
people up here, and I am full of admiration for all those members who
write and perform their own compositions. |
